Professor Artur Izmaylov wins JPC-PHYS Lectureship award
Congratulations to Professor Artur Izmaylov for winning a 2019 Journal of Physical Chemistry-PHYS Lectureship Award. The JPC-PHYS lectureship awards honour the contributions of investigators who have made major impacts in their field of physical chemistry.
Prof. Izmaylov is the first winner of this award from U of T. The lecture and award will be presented at the American Chemical Society meeting in August.

Professor Aaron Wheeler receives $3m Genome Canada grant
Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport, announced today the funding recipients from Genome Canada’s Disruptive Innovations in Genomics.
Professor Aaron Wheeler will receive $3m in funding to develop a safe, inexpensive, and non-invasive prenatal diagnostic test.

Professor Scott Mabury: 'Plucking Solutions Out of Thin Air'
Professor Scott Mabury's research into perfluorinated acids have led to national policy changes on products that put their precursors into the air. He spoke with Research2Reality about these airborne pollutants.
“They were waste products that (neither) industry nor government knew were there, so they didn’t know to regulate them,?say Mabury. “We discovered them in the atmosphere, worked them back to where they came from.?/p>

Simulating climate change in the lab
Professors Jessica D’eon, Kristine Quinlan and Scott Browning, alongside Postdoctoral Fellow Jennifer Faust (Abbatt Group), created a first-year chemistry laboratory meant to improve students?fundamental understanding of greenhouse gases. They're featured in the Varsity this week.
